Terms & Conditions
Last updated: September 10, 2026
These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of TextMeThe.News (“we,” “us”), an SMS/MMS news messaging service (the “Service”), and the website at textmethe.news. By texting our program number, subscribing, or using the Service in any way, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
TextMeThe.News sends recurring text messages containing news headlines and summaries to subscribers who opt in. Message frequency varies. SMS is entirely optional: the same alerts are published on our alerts feed, which you can read without a phone number and without receiving any messages. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to cancel at any time, or HELP for help.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service, and at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live) to agree to these Terms on your own behalf. You must be the account holder of the mobile number you subscribe with, or have the account holder's permission to subscribe that number. You may not enroll a phone number that does not belong to you.
2. Opting in
You consent to receive recurring automated text messages from TextMeThe.News when you text our program keyword (for example, “text me the news”) to our program number, (220) 244-4402, or otherwise submit your mobile number to us for this purpose. Consent to receive marketing or promotional messages is not a condition of purchasing any goods or services.
Your carrier's standard message and data rates apply to every message you send or receive. We are not responsible for charges from your wireless carrier.
3. Message frequency
Message frequency varies. How many messages you receive depends on the topics and settings you choose, on how much news there is, and on any plan you subscribe to, so you may receive several messages a day. You can ask us to send you more or fewer messages at any time, and we may also send messages for significant breaking news or important service notices. Reply STOP at any time to stop all messages.
4. Opting out (STOP)
You can cancel at any time by replying STOP to any message from us. We will send a single confirmation message and then stop sending you news messages. We also honor STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, and QUIT. After you opt out, you can rejoin at any time by texting our keyword again.
5. Help (HELP)
Reply HELP to any message for support information, or get in touch through our contact form.
6. Supported carriers
The Service is available on most major U.S. wireless carriers. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Delivery of messages is subject to effective transmission by your wireless carrier and is outside our control. We do not guarantee that any message will be delivered, delivered on time, or delivered without error.
7. Fees and paid plans
The basic Service is currently free. We may introduce paid plans in the future, for example a premium tier with more news and more control over what you receive. If we do, pricing, billing terms, and renewal terms will be disclosed to you before you are charged, and no charge will be made without your express agreement. Continuing to use the free Service will never obligate you to pay.
8. The news content
News summaries are compiled from publicly available sources and are provided for general information only. We are not a news publisher of original reporting, and headlines and summaries may be automatically generated. We do not guarantee that any message is accurate, complete, current, or free of error or bias, and content may change after it is sent.
Nothing in the Service is legal, financial, medical, investment, or professional advice. Do not rely on the Service for decisions where accuracy or timeliness is critical, including emergencies. For emergencies, contact your local emergency services.
Third-party names, headlines, and links referenced in messages remain the property of their respective owners. Everything else in the Service, including the TextMeThe.News name, logo, and website, belongs to us, and you may not copy, resell, redistribute, or commercially exploit the Service or its content without our written permission.
9. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Service for any unlawful, harassing, abusive, or fraudulent purpose;
- subscribe a number you do not own or do not have permission to subscribe;
- attempt to disrupt, overload, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorized access to the Service or its systems;
- use automated means to send messages to the Service, scrape it, or resell its content.
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, if we believe you have violated these Terms or if we discontinue the Service.
10. Availability and changes
The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service, including keywords, phone numbers, message frequency, and content, at any time. We may also update these Terms; the “Last updated” date above will change, and continued use of the Service after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
11. Disclaimer of warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, timely, or error-free.
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, TextMeThe.News will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of (or inability to use) the Service, including undelivered, delayed, or inaccurate messages, or carrier charges. Our total aggregate liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve months before the claim, or US $50.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
13. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless TextMeThe.News from any claim, demand, loss, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your misuse of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right, including subscribing a phone number without permission.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State of Colorado, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. You agree that any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Colorado, and you consent to their jurisdiction.
15. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect and how we use it. In short: we do not sell your phone number, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.
16. Contact
TextMeThe.News is based in Colorado, USA. Questions about these Terms? Send them through our contact form, or reply HELP to any message from the Service.
